last time we did 10 milliliters of water and we get to choose the amount that we change. i changed it to five milliliters. at the beginning of the year i always ask them to do two things and one is to always try whatever we're doing and then the second is to have an open mind. my hope is that by the end of the year, they move from really not liking science to knowing that science is fun.
please be very careful walk slowly. in 2009 an opportunity arose to turn a campus drainage basin into a living laboratory and shae jump right in. working with staff students and community, invasive plants were removed, native trees and shrubs were planted and gaiser pond was born. make sure you are getting both close up and full pictures of your plant.
january we are going to be going back through these pictures and doing a lot of analysis so you need to have this. i'm measuring it to see how much its grown. students monitor water quality by taking samples once a month during the school year. what is the chemical? carbon dioxide. oh my goodness! you guys just talked about the carbon dioxide cycle which
is what we talked about last week. brilliant minds, brilliant minds. back in the classroom they study the macro invertebrates collected from the pond. we got four scuds in there. analyzing these tiny creatures allows them to check the health of that environment over time. this focus on environmental consciousness has had some
rewarding results. have you gone into the cafeteria and kind of laid out where you think those recycle tables are going to be? each honor society class from 2010 has challenged the next year to do something to continue our sustainability and to encourage the green school mindsets here on campus. gaiser does an energy-saving contract and you have all
of our teachers sign it. under shae's mentorship the school's honor society students have helped gaiser earn five washington green school awards and a coveted federal green ribbon school award. i've very high expectations for my students. excellent. nicely done. very nicely done. to me, the greatest thing that i can do is make sure to
