well its a very difficult process after the flood happened, the ownership was kind of up in the air, so we couldn't just go right back into it. like a lot of businesses just kind of rebuilt, go thru the planning probably, stuff like this, we dint really have that opportunity,so it took abouot 5 years for the current owner to put together, i guess a group of investors and then come in and help him get the ground work laid
Church of St. Cejatan, so here we are inn the projector room everything now is digital we go rid of the old 35 mm which took up pretty much the whole room with the projector itself and the old planner system ,so this system takes up alot less space
exactly, you can plug in your ipod and run your playlist over your ipod we have a blu ray player down here. even a little cheap one. we can run a blu ray right off of everything. 7.1 surround sound those are the amps too so they can push all the sound we need out dan tell us a little bit about the theater okay so the theater has been completely remodeled we've got totally new seating more, you know similar to modern seats, in most theaters some people love it, some people hate it, so really its gonna be up to you to come and try it out a couple times you know
watch 7 or 8 movies before you decide if you hate the seats or not do you like the seats? i like the seats the backs are a little high for me , but other than that i think they're really comfortable easy to clean up so yeah that's a big deal for me. we bought a new sound board in the back and then we have this massive stage that we can start putting on shows concerts yeah! and i can see its carpeted already yes, its nice it feels really comfortable our new screen is bigger than the old screen but its kinda curved in. so some people don't realize that and also you mentioned that this venue, you would like it to be like a diverse venue right?
so that it could like host like weddings? exactly weddings, if somebody want to get married here. they could come in and basically rent the whole place out and their audience would just sit up there and they can be married up here with a pastor of their choice or whatever i'm actually ordained , so i could even come do it if i have to, yeah, put the slide show up here or like a home movie , or like a proposal video , as long as we have it on say a dvd blu ray type format, we can easily throw it up there and i'm not really the type who chases movies as they come out so if you don't have to be at the opening night , then yeah this is the place to be. or if you , you know say you've been burned on the big block busters before, you've already watched every x-men movie that came out and they've all been kind of terrible
oh when the next x-men movie comes out ,we're gonna get it so watch it here for 3 bucks instead of risking watching a terrible movie for 9 or 10 exactly, you save a lot of money. in the long run yeah.. and you also get to support a local buisness which i think its so important i really appreciate everything you're doing ,everything the owner is doing to keep this place running. thank you so much for everything that you do. make sure to go check on their web site, oakparktheater.net . or check them out on their facebook page and they're very responsive, i mean when i texted oak park theater they responded to me really quickly we watched hidden figures and man that was a good movie. so what did you think about the theater?
i think its really good. i mean i never saw the old one. but i think dan has done a really good job of restoring it and its gonna make a huge impact on this community bringing cheap prices for movies and gives people more options than just at the mall. yeah especially for students i think that 3 dollars is a really affordable price for watching movies. popcorn was really good.yep its cheap too! ok, well thank you chris for joining me and maybe next time you will see him again , on joining me on xperience minot in 360 and i'm ariel koh and he's chris reineman and we'll see you next time
